Today in our culture ugly (offensive to the sight : hideous) is what many people now call women without any makeup on but ugly once had the exact opposite meaning.
Ugly has become the new norm and the norm is now the makeup mask. Before, the norm was the natural beauty look and ugly was the makeup mask and society would call those women whores. Our culture has turned what is beautiful and what is ugly on its head.
Hey I totally get that we all want to put our best face forward but have we been brain washed in some way to now believe that this is what beautiful is suppose to look like or have we just all accepted this?
A True You Look Ugly Without Makeup Story
Let me tell you a true story. I used to work for a medical company and in the clean room men were required to cover any facial hair with a white hair net, women could never wear makeup and everyone wore a white head cover and white bunny suit. So everyone pretty much looked the same.
Every day I had the chance to get to know and respect some very beautiful and intelligent women from only seeing their faces without any makeup on what so ever and by looking into their souls through their eyes. I even fell in love with one of those plane Jane “ugly betty” girls but that was many years ago and another story for another time.
At our holiday party everyone was dressed to impress and all the women were wearing their makeup masks of course. Now here’s the weird part. I could barely recognize any of them at all. Had I stepped into the twilight zone or a costume party? Was it just me?? Did they over do the makeup in the wrong lighting???
THEY ALL LOOKED LIKE SCARY AZZ CIRCUS CLOWNS!
Where had all my beautiful friends gone and who where these faces taking their places? Where they abducted or replaced like in the body snatchers movie? Their natural beauty now gone, hidden, lost – STOLEN!
It disturbed me because these “Halloween masks” where not the people I had grown to respect and care about. It was something different, unnatural, and perverse. I was disappointed so say the least but what did I expect? This was their natural or unnatural public image they wanted to project.
I wondered if their dates, significant others, friends, husbands knew the real person behind the mask. This was actually beginning to bring a tear to my eye
all these secret, hidden identities “lying” behind these fake masks and in many cases false personas as well. Then I became comforted, thankful and grateful for this elusive gift bestowed upon me as I was the one fortunate enough to have the RARE opportunity to peek behind their super hero masks and see them for who and what they really are.
